Former Christian Reformed Congregations

The following information is taken from the 1957, 1983, and 1996 Yearbooks (among others). The first date indicates the year in which the church was organized or affiliated with the CRC. The last date indicates the year of dissolution, departure, or merger with another congregation. A date in parenthesis indicates the original date of organization before the congregation joined the CRC. TDRC indicates congregations originally in the True Dutch Reformed Church, which merged with the CRC in 1890. (Many of these congregations seceded from the CRC in 1908 for reasons which remain unclear.) OPRC indicates congregations originally in the Protestant Reformed denomination/DeWolf group. URC indicates the United Reformed Churches, a denomination organized in 1996 by many who left the CRC.

Names in parentheses are subsequent names of congregations. Merged indicates where membership papers were sent when the congegation disbanded, not necessarily a full-fledged merger.

I also have a separate list of Former Names of Christian Reformed Churches.

This list is organized by state and province. I welcome any additions allowing me to further anotate and update this list. I also have a list organized by year of dissolution or departure.
