Olivet Reformed Church

Grandville, Michigan

The pastor of First Reformed first suggested beginning a new church east of Grandville in 1930, but it wasn't until 1947 that planning began. Olivet Reformed was organized in 1948 as a daughter of First Reformed. Charter members included 93 baptized members (52 families). The first worship service was held on July 4, 1948, and early services were held at the Wayside Chapel Seventh Day Adventist Church. Facilities were quickly constructed, and the church worshipped in its own building (just a basement) for the first time on Feb. 13, 1949. The rest of the building was completed in 1954, and a chapel was added in 1958.
